National Commission for BCs
- The National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) was set up in 1993.
- The 102nd Amendment Act of 2018 conferred a constitutional status on the Commission.
- The new Article 338-B is inserted in the constitution.
- Now it is a constitutional body.
- A chairperson, a vice-chairperson and three other members are appointed by the President.
- They hold office for a term of three years.
- The Commission presents an annual report to the President.
- The President places all such reports before the Parliament.
- Mandal case (1992), Indra Sawhney Vs. Union of India (1992) are related to Backward Classes.
